Susan died at the age of 61 on September 15, 2022. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones after her short battle with cancer.
Susan (Sue) Bautch was born on April 17, 1961 to Robert and Neomi (Michalski) Bautch in Luxemburg, MN. She attended grade school at St. Wendelin’s in Luxemburg and graduated from Technical High School in St. Cloud, class of 1979. Susan married Jeffrey Oldakowski on April 16, 1994 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Together they had two children, Ryan and Jill Oldakowski, and Coco the family dog.
Sue grew up on the family farm where she learned how to work hard, be independent, and develop a strong sense of responsibility. She was employed by the St. Cloud School district for 43 years and loved her job as an administrative secretary.
Sue loved caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and her guests never left hungry. She cherished taking pictures, scrapbooking and traveling. Some of her fondest memories were fishing with her family. Sue also enjoyed a good book, playing games, and admiring her flowers.
Sue had a large network of family and friends and touched the lives of everyone she met. She was always ready to lend a hand, provide for others, or listen when needed.
Sue was very strong in her faith and she led by example. She was an active member in the Sacred Heart parish. She instilled her beliefs in all that she did. She was steadfast in her faith until her last breath.
Susan is survived by her husband, Jeffrey of Sauk Rapids, son, Ryan of St. Cloud, daughter, Jill (significant other, Lyca Heng) of Sauk Rapids, and mother, Neomi Bautch of St. Cloud, brothers, Ronald Bautch of Sartell, Phillip (Robin) Bautch of St. Cloud; sisters, Joyce Bautch of Winona, and Jayne Bautch of St. Cloud; and three nieces, Jenna (Michael), Jackie (Peter), and Melissa (Griffin).
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert.
The family would like to thank the staff at The St. Cloud Hospital for their loving care of Susan.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Jeff, Ryan, Jill, and your family. We enjoyed working with Sue. Her dedication to South Junior High was very admirable and she cared so very much for the well-being of South’s staff and students. I will always treasure Sue’s helpfulness and guidance throughout my teaching career. She was a wonderful co-worker. May all your special memories of Sue help guide all of you through this most difficult time. In sympathy and prayers, Steve and Vicki DiBrito
We share the sadness of Sue’s family. She was a gem in all respects. As a “new” middle school teacher, though with many years of experience in high school, Sue welcomed me to South Junior High School, and helped me, day-in, day-out, get the best out of my time with middle-schoolers. Like the teachers who helped me learn to manage energetic early teens, Sue made my days far better. As I learned right along with the kids – and learned to love them – Sue supported me and so many, many teachers and administrators with efficiency and genuine caring. When I retired to substitute teaching, once again Sue was there, making sure I was ready for each day. She blessed me and so many others with her kindness, assurance, and love.
Sue made me believe I was special and that she liked me as much as I liked her. I’m pretty sure she had that affect on everyone she met (except for a few students that needed time out.) I will miss her. I loved her.
