Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Friday, October 23, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2405 Walden Way, St. Cloud, MN, with a time for visitation from 9:30 am – 11:00 am before the service for Ida (Maile) Hoffarth, age 97, who died on October 19, 2026, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Entombment will take place at Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud, MN. Arrangements entrusted to Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes.

Ida Maile was born on August 23, 1929, in Cold Spring, MN, the daughter of the late John and Olive (Kellner) Maile. She married Raymond Hoffarth on May 29, 1950, at St. Boniface Church. She graduated from St. Cloud State University and taught for 42 years; the first 15 were in rural schools in the surrounding areas, which she enjoyed greatly. The next 27 years were teaching 1st grade at McKinley Elementary. Teaching was her passion, and she was very dedicated to her students.

Raymond and Ida lived at Big Fish Lake for 18 years and were members of St. Boniface Parish, where Ida was a Communion Minister for many years. They then moved to a patio home in St. Cloud, and finally to Woodcrest of Country Manor in St. Joseph. Her greatest enjoyments were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved quilting, sewing, fishing, playing cards, and gambling (she was rather lucky too). She belonged to the MN Retired Teachers Association and the McKinley Retired Teachers Group.

Survivors include sons, Raymond G. of Waite Park, MN, Mark (Sue) of Clearwater, MN, Richard (Jodi) of Flint, TX, and Dennis (Jayne) of Maple Grove; daughter, JoAnn (Alan) Christenson of Rockville, MN; 8 grandchildren, Caleb (Staci), Jaclyn (David) Otto, Jason (Nicole), Brianna, Samantha (Nick) Worley, Troy, Tanner, Brandon Christenson; step-grandchildren, Jason (Mara) Christenson and Amber (TJ) Poganski; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jan Hoffarth, John (Delores) Maile, and Mary Kay Grabmeier; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hoffarth, in 2022; her parents, John and Olive Maile; and siblings, Bernice (Ralph) Davich, Leonard (Marguerite) Maile, Adeline (Frank) Svihel, and Roseann (Dave) Garrison.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Ida’s Woodcrest family and Dr. John Sebas for all of his care and compassion over the years.
